Chapter 1: The Unexpected Meeting​

The morning sun peeked through the skyscrapers of New York City, casting a warm glow over the bustling streets. Emily Thompson, a recent graduate with a degree in business administration, clutched her resume tightly as she made her way to the towering building that housed Thompson Enterprises, one of the most prestigious companies in the city. Her heart was pounding with a mix of excitement and nervousness. This was her first real job interview, and she was determined to make a good impression.​

As she entered the grand lobby, the polished marble floors and modern decor took her breath away. The receptionist at the front desk smiled warmly at her. "Good morning. How can I help you?"​

"I'm here for an interview with Mr. Harrison," Emily replied, trying to sound confident.​

The receptionist nodded and checked her schedule. "Please take a seat in the waiting area. Mr. Harrison will be with you shortly."​

Emily sat down on one of the plush sofas and began to review her resume in her mind, mentally rehearsing the answers to the questions she expected to be asked. Just then, a commotion at the entrance caught her attention. A tall, dark - haired man in an impeccably tailored suit strode into the lobby, flanked by several assistants. His intense blue eyes scanned the room, and there was an air of authority and confidence about him that was impossible to ignore.​

"That's Mr. Alexander Harrison, the CEO of the company," the receptionist whispered to Emily.​

Emily's eyes widened in surprise. She had heard of Alexander Harrison, of course. He was a business magnate, known for his sharp mind and ruthless business tactics. As Alexander walked towards the elevators, his gaze accidentally met Emily's. For a brief moment, time seemed to stand still. Their eyes locked, and Emily felt a strange connection, a spark that she couldn't quite explain. But just as quickly as it happened, Alexander looked away and disappeared into the elevator.​

Emily shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts. She was here for an interview, not to ogle the CEO. A few minutes later, she was called into the interview room. To her shock, Alexander Harrison himself was sitting at the head of the table, along with two other members of the board.​

"Miss Thompson, please have a seat," Alexander said, his voice deep and authoritative.​

Emily sat down, trying not to let her nervousness show. The interview began, and Alexander asked her a series of tough questions about her education, work experience, and her understanding of the business world. Emily answered as best she could, but she couldn't help but feel intimidated by Alexander's intense gaze.​

At one point, Alexander leaned forward, his eyes fixed on hers. "Why do you think you're the right person for this job, Miss Thompson? This is a highly competitive position, and we only hire the best."​

Emily took a deep breath. "I believe my education and internships have given me a solid foundation in business. But more than that, I'm a quick learner, I'm dedicated, and I'm not afraid of hard work. I'm passionate about this industry, and I know I can contribute to the success of Thompson Enterprises."​

Alexander studied her for a moment, then nodded slightly. The interview continued for another half - hour, and when it was over, Emily was exhausted but also hopeful.​

A week later, she received an email offering her the job as an assistant in the marketing department. She was overjoyed. As she started her new job, she soon realized that working at Thompson Enterprises was both challenging and rewarding. "Yes, Mr. Harrison," Emily replied.​

Over the next few days, Emily worked long hours on the report. She made sure every detail was perfect, pouring her heart and soul into the task. When she finally presented the report to Alexander, she was nervous but proud of her work.​

Alexander studied the report carefully, his brows furrowed. Then, he looked up at her. "This is good work, Miss Thompson. But there are a few areas that need improvement. I want you to go back and revise it."​

Emily nodded, a little disappointed but determined to do better. As she was leaving the office, Alexander called out to her. "Miss Thompson, I appreciate your dedication. Keep it up."​

Those words of encouragement made Emily's heart soar. From that day on, she found herself working more closely with Alexander. They spent long hours together, discussing business strategies, analyzing data, and preparing for meetings. And as they got to know each other better, Emily began to see a different side of Alexander.
